Multiple factors presented by the object itself and the damage its sustained dictate our packing decisions. All of our project managers have extensive hands-on experience and are uniquely equipped to assist our clients in this process. Whether the piece needs stabilization before packing, a custom crate, cavity packing or simply museum quality soft packing, DPR Art Rescue will be prepared to assess and then act accordingly. In consultation with our conservators, DPR has developed its own packing specifications and has assisted many institutions in the development of their own specifications.
All DPR Art Rescue crates, from the most basic to the most sophisticated, are designed from the inside out, starting with support required for fragile media and forms, followed by cushioning requirements dictated by the object itself and the damage the piece has sustained.
The DPR Art Rescue fleet features custom built vehicles outfitted to museum standards and staffed with fully trained art handlers/drivers. Our vehicles are equipped with temperature control systems, air-ride suspension, platform lift gates and the necessary equipment to properly secure any cargo. If piece volume should dictate the need for a tractor trailer, DPR Art Rescue can turn to its established network of vendors to supply the transportation space needed.
With over 150,000 square feet of climate controlled storage, DPR is prepared to meet the demands of any emergency. Our storage facilities feature state of the art security systems, offering 24/7 protection with camera monitoring, integrated sensors monitoring interior motion, smoke, moisture and temperature with both telephone and radio back up. Interior docking capabilities provide further security and a stable environment. A viewing room is available for the client to consult with our professionals, to review the artwork, and discuss treatment options and techniques.
